Mock meat? A meat analogue, also called a meat alternative, meat substitute, mock meat, faux meat, imitation meat, or (where applicable) vegetarian meat or vegan meat, …
Yes! Exactly! That is what I made tonight for my daughter. I also made Pork Teriyaki for the rest of us but she is a vegetarian (who easts chicken occasionally – but she does eat eggs – Thank Heavens!!)
Turned out pretty good if I may say so myself.
It’s a 2-step recipe. First you pan cook the meatless meat and then cook the other 2 ingredients in the same pan.
It’s pretty simple, so will get right to it.
STIR FRIED MOCK MEAT
1 can of mock meat
1/3 of each – a red and yellow capsicum
1 onion – thinly sliced
To Marinate the Mock Meat, you will need
1 Tablespoon of Dark Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of black pepper
(there is no need for any sitting time as it is not going to absorb the flavours)
To begin, heat some oil in a skillet
Add in the marinated “meat”
Once cooked, drain on a paper towel.
Remove the access oil, retaining enough to saute the onions and capsicum
Once those are softened, season with salt and chilli powder
Add back the “meat” and mix thoroughly.
